Types of Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for the missing teeth and the surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available- complete and partial. The partial dentures are used when the entire set of teeth is missing. But the partial dentures are used when there are some natural teeth still there. The Partial Dentures Cost NZ are also quite reasonable.
Complete Dentures
The complete dentures can be either conventional or
immediate. These are made once the teeth are removed and the gum tissue has
begun to heal. The conventional denture is ready for replacement in the mouth
about 8 to 12 weeks after the teeth has been removed.
Unlike the conventional dentures, the immediate dentures are
made much in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As
a result the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing
period. But the bones and the gums shrink over time, especially during the
healing period that follows the tooth removal procedure. You can know the Cost Of Immediate Dentures NZ from your dentists.
Partial dentures
The removal partial denture or the bridge usually consists of
the replacement teeth that are attached to a pink or gum colored plastic base
and this is at times connected by a metal framework that holds the denture in
place in the mouth. The partial dentures are used when one or more natural
teeth remain in the upper or the lower jaw.
A fixed bridge replaces one or more teeth and to do this
crowns are placed on the teeth on either side of the space and then attaching
artificial teeth to them. After that the bridge is cemented to one place. The
partial dentures not only fill the spaces that are created by the missing teeth
but they also prevent the other teeth from changing the position. The precision
partial dentures can be removed and have internal attachments rather than
clasps that are attached to the adjacent crowns. This is much more natural
looking. The Merivale

Creating the dentures
The process of developing dentures takes a few weeks. Once
the dentist is able to find out exactly what type of appliance is suitable for
you, there are two steps that he follows:
·
He
first makes a series of impressions of your jaw and take the measurements of
how the jaws relate to each other and the amount of space that is there in
between them.
·
Create
certain models, wax forms and plastic patterns in the exact shape and the
position of the denture. The denture will be assessed for the color, shape and
the fit before the final denture is created.
·
Cast
a final denture
·
Adjustments
are made as and when necessary.
What do the new
dentures feel like?
The new dentures may feel a little odd or loose for a few
weeks till the muscles of the cheeks and the tongue learn to keep them in the
right place. With time, you will start feeling more comfortable while inserting
or removing them. You might feel some minor irritations or soreness and the
saliva flow might also increase when wearing dentures during the initial stage.
But after a few days, once your mouth adjusts to the dentures, these issues
will all diminish.
